WOLVERHAMPTON pulled off a brilliant 50-43 Elite League Speedway win over title favourites Poole at Monmore Green.

Grand Prix star Freddie Lindgren was in inspirational form with a 13+1 haul in a thrilling meeting which gave the big crowd plenty to enjoy.

The Swede's only defeat was in Heat 15 when Chris Holder edged him out after four fabulous laps of action - but with the impressive Nicolai Klindt third it was enough for the Parrys International Wolves to secure all three points on offer.

Ty Proctor picked himself up from a first heat spill which resulted in a shoulder injury to notch a handy 7+1 from his four outings as he raced through the pain barrier.

He passed Bjarne Pedersen in Heat 6 for a maxcimum with Lindgren to put Wolves in control and when they teamed up for a sensational 4-2 in Heat 10 it put them 10-points up which allowed Poole a tactical ride for double points.

Chris Holder won Heat 11 for six-points but skipper Tai Woffinden and reserve Chris Kerr edged out Jason Doyle to restrict Poole to a 6-3.

And when Kerr and Joe Screen shared Heat 14 the Monmore men had done enough to win the meeting - but Lindgren and Klindt made sure of maximum points with a 3-3 in the last.

Said hero Lindgren: "It was a hard fought meeting and we had to show a lot of character with plenty of determination. We pulled through and got our best result of the season."
