HARRIS RETAINS BRITISH TITLE

Monday June 14, 2010
CHRIS Harris raced through the pain barrier to win his third British title at Wolverhampton on Monday.

Harris suffered two horrific crashes and yet still managed to win the final ahead of rival Scott Nicholls who has won the wildcard spot for the British Grand Prix at Cardiff on July 11.

It was a spectacular night of racing at Monmore Green in front of the Sky Sports cameras with plenty of Coventry fans following the Bees' contingent.

Harris followed up his wins from 2007 and 2009 and heads into the Polish Grand Prix in Torun this weekend with plenty of confidence.

A night of thrills and spills also included a heavy crash for recent Coventry signing Lewis Bridger, who was fortunate to walk away when he was thrown spectacularly off his machine in Heat 17 when he lost control whilst chasing Danny King as he attempted to book a semi-final place.

Harris said: "I've been through the pain barrier tonight, but it paid off to win the Final, and it's worth every bit of pain.

"It was good to make it off gate three because Scott was fast all night. It was just like last year with coming through the semi, but it paid off in the end. I've got to enjoy this result and then move on to the next meeting."
