REIGNING champions Wolverhampton claimed two valuable Elite League points from a 45-45 draw at Belle Vue on Wednesday.

And it could have been more as Peter Adams' men went into the last race with a two-point advantage, only for the Manchester men to notch a 4-2 and a share of the spoils thanks to Hans Andersen and ex-Wolf Peter Karlsson in a thrilling race.

Reserves Matthew Wethers (9+1) and Ludvig Lindgren (9+1) both deserve great credit for the part they played, particularly after losing popular Pole Adam Skornicki in his opening ride.

Skornicki was taken to hospital after a nasty crash which also involved Belle Vue's Patrick Hougaard.

Parrys International Wolves boss Peter Adams said: "Adam's face is going to need a lot of stiches and he's complaining of a problem with his knee.

"It was one of those incidents, very difficult to see from the pits area where I was watching. But Adam had to go to hospital and we'll just have to see what the outcome is over the next few days.

"I thought the boys did well and we could have won the meeting. Our reserves were excellent and we all gave it our best, although it would obviously have been nice to win."

BELLE VUE: Hans Andersen 14, Leigh Lanham 11+3, James Wright 7+1, Peter Karlsson 6+2, Patrick Hougaard 3+1, Josh Grajczonek 3, Ulrich Ostergaard 1.

WOLVERHAMPTON: Freddie Lindgren 11, Matthew Wethers 9+1, Ludvig Lindgren 9+1, Tai Woffinden 6+2, Nikolai Klindt 5+1, Ty Proctor 5, Adam Skornicki 0.
