POOLE 53 WOLVES 39

GUTSY Wolves gave runaway Elite League leaders Poole a fright but went down 53-39 in Dorset on Wednesday.

Peter Adams' men can hold their heads high after a meeting which provided plenty of concern for the home fans "“ even though key man Adam Skronicki was again missing with a knee injury.

Only a late rally from the hot title favourites gave them what appears to be a comfortable win and with the prospect of Polish star Skornicki returning there is genuine belief that the title race is far from a formality.

Now the Parrys International Wolves will be hoping to gain revenge when the teams meet again in a mouthwatering Monmore Green clash next Monday, August 23.

There was some hard riding in a bruising battle and Freddie Lindgren took a tactical ride for double points after a crash in Heat 13. He was squeezed out by Chris Holder and only managed a point.

Skipper Tai Woffinden also went for double points in the next and finished second but with team-mate Ludvig Lindgren at the back the race was shared.

Freddie Lindgren won Heat 15 after a superb race with Davey Watt which gave the Monmore men more reason for consolation.

POOLE: Davey Watt 12, Bjarne Pedersen 9+1, Chris Holder 8+2, Leon Madsen 8+1, Artur Mrozczka 6+2, Darcy Ward 6+1, Jason Doyle 4+3.

WOLVERHAMPTON: Freddie Lindgren 12, Nicolai Klindt 10, Tai Woffinden 8, Ty Proctor 5+1, Ludvig Lindgren 4+1, Matt Wethers 0, Adam Skornicki R/R.
