WOLVERHAMPTON extended their proud unbeaten home record with a hard fought 50-40 Elite League win over leaders Poole on Monday.

Freddie Lindgren was at his brilliant best with a 15-point haul to inspire the Parrys International Wolves in front of the Sky Sports HD cameras - and a bumper crowd.

Skipper Tai Woffinden was also in fine form with 12+1 and only dropped points from a tough Heat 15 after a brilliant night of racing.

Wolves held the lead from start to finish - but it was a tense night for the Monmore men as runaway leaders Poole pushed them to the limit.

When Chris Holder and Darcy Ward teamed up for their only maximum of the night in Heat 11 the outcome was in doubt as Wolves were only ahead by two.

But they got it right with a 5-1 in the penultimate race from Woffinden and unlikely hero Matt Wethers to secure the win, followed up by an impressive 4-2 in the last to notch maximum points.

Boss Peter Adams said: "We're naturally pleased to maintain our unbeaten home record because we're very proud of that and it's important to do well at home if you are to have a successful league campaign.

"It's all about building up to the play-offs and hopefully we can reach peak form and fitness when it comes to that. It will all come down to whether we can win enough races away from home."

WOLVERHAMPTON: Freddie Lindgren 15, Tai Woffinden 12+1, Adam Skornicki 6, Ty Proctor 5, Nicolai Klindt 5, Matt Wethers 4+1, Ludvig Lindgren 3.

POOLE: Darcy Ward 11+1, Jason Doyle 8, Davey Watt 6+1, Bjarne Pedersen 5, Artur Mroczka 5, Chris Holder 5, Leon Madsen 0.
