WOLVERHAMPTON rescued a 44.5-44.5 draw against league leaders Poole in a thrilling Elite League play-off semi-final at Monmore on Monday.

Peter Adams' side have now gone two years unbeaten on home territory - but the result leaves them underdogs going into next Monday's second leg in Dorset.

Swedish Grand Prix star Freddie Lindgren was unbeaten by an opposing rider but shared victory with Poole skipper Davey Watt in a sensational Heat 13. Referee Craig Ackroyd declared a dead heat, the first time this has happened in 15-years of Sky Sports TV coverage.

Former Poole man Adam Skornicki was in good form, winning his opening two rides on his way to a 10+1 haul.

Parrys International Wolves looked destined for an advantage to take into the second leg and were 33-27 up with just five heats to go.

But Nicolai Klindt had bike problems and in the penultimate race Tai Woffinden and Matt Wethers were excluded for separate crashes to hand Poole a 5-0.

Freddie Lindgren and Skornicki notched a maximum in the last heat to share the spoils for the Monmore men.

Boss Peter Adams said: "It's going to be a tall order for us from this point on but we won't be giving up. We will go down to Poole next week and give it everything we've got."

WOLVERHAMPTON 44.5: Freddie Lindgren 14.5, Adam Skornicki 10+1, Ludvig Lindgren 5, Tai Woffinden 4+1, Matt Wethers 4, Ty Proctor 4, Nicolai Klindt 3+1.

POOLE 44.5: Bjarne Pedersen 10, Davey Watt 9.5, Chris Holder 9+1, Darcy Ward 7+1, Leon Madsen 6, Artur Mroczka 3+2, Jason Doyle 0.
