POOLE 53 WOLVES 41

Monday September 20, 2010
WOLVERHAMPTON'S Elite League Speedway play-off hopes ended with a 53-41 defeat at runaway leaders Poole on Monday.

Swedish star Freddie Lindgren pulled off three straight wins in his 14+1 haul from five outings, including a win as a tactical ride in Heat 11.

The defending champions couldn't recover from a poor start which saw Poole rocket into a 14-4 lead after only three heats.
And when Adam Skornicki went from first to third in Heat 6 the Pirates were 24-12 ahead.

There was some consolation for the Parrys International Wolves with a 4-2 in Heat 13 and a maximum 5-1 from Lindgren and Nicolai Klindt in the last race.

Said Lindgren: "I was pleased with the way I raced in the end but it would have been better for the team if I had made a better start. I hate being on the wrong end of a 5-1.

"And I must pay credit to Poole, they should go on and win the title because they've been the best team all season."

The Pirates will now face Coventry over two legs to decide the new champions.

POOLE: Bjarne Pedersen 13, Darcy Ward 10+2, Chris Holder 10+1, Leon Madsen 8, Artur Mroczka 5+2, Davey Watt 5+1, Gary Havelock 2.

WOLVERHAMPTON: Freddie Lindgren 14+1, Nicolai Klindt 8+1, Tai Woffinden 5, Adam Skornicki 5, Matthew Wethers 4+1, Ty Proctor 4, Ludvig Lindgren 1.
