WOLVERHAMPTON pulled off a hard fought 48-42 win over Swindon for their first Elite League win of the season on Monday.

The Monmore men had to come back from an early deficit to claim two league points, but Swindon claimed a consolation point for keeping the scores within six.

Once again the Parrys International Wolves had to rely heavily on their top three riders to see them home. Freddie Lindgren (13), Peter Karlsson (11+1) and Tai Woffinden (11) won nine of the 15 races between them on a track made tricky thanks to heavy rain.

Boss Peter Adams said: “I have mixed feelings about this, obviously it’s nice to have won the meeting but disappointing not to have claimed all three points.

“But hopefully we will be able to build on this when we face Eastbourne, who are such a good side these days, at home next Monday.”

Former Grand Prix star Scott Nicholls was the top man for Swindon with a string of impressive rides in his 13-point haul, including valuable wins over Lindgren and Karlsson late in the meeting.

Heavy rain made conditions difficult but thankfully the teams were able to see the meeting through to the full distance.

WOLVERHAMPTON 48: Freddie Lindgren 13, Peter Karlsson 11+2, Tai Woffinden 11, Ty Proctor 4, Ricky Wells 4, Ludvig Lindgren 3+2, Tyson Burmeister 2.

SWINDON 42: Scott Nicholls 13, Tomasz Chrzanowski 8+1, Maciej Janowski 6+1, Simon Stead 5+1, Cory Gathercole 5+1, Justin Sedgmen 5, Grzegorz Zengota R/R.
