WOLVERHAMPTON pulled off a stunning last gasp maximum to beat table-topping Eastbourne Eagles 46-44 in an Elite League thriller at Monmore on Monday.

Freddie Lindgren and Peter Karlsson, who both scored 12-points, were the last heat heroes for the Parrys International Wolves as they gained a maximum to overturn a 43-41 deficit.

The narrow win handed the Monmore men two league points and Eastbourne gained a consolation point from their first league defeat of the season.

Not only were the scores close throughout the night, but there was some spectacular action for the fans and the Sky Sports viewers to enjoy throughout the night.

Visiting ace Bjarne Pedersen kept Karlsson and Lindgren at bay with the ride of the season in Heat 13 and when the Eagles shared the penultimate race it put pressure on Wolves knowing nothing less than a 5-1 would do – and they duly responded!
Skipper Karlsson said: “That must have been a great meeting to watch but it was very tense to ride in.

“There was a lot of pressure in the last race but thankfully Freddie and me were able to do the business. It’s nice for the fans and we are really pleased with the result. Credit to Eastbourne, they are a great team.”

WOLVERHAMPTON 46: Freddie Lindgren 12+2, Peter Karlsson 12+1, Tai Woffinden 11, Ty Proctor 7+1, Ludvig Lindgren 2, Ricky Wells 2, Tyson Burmeister 0.

EASTBOURNE 44: Bjarne Pedersen 12, Lewis Bridger 9+2, Cameron Woodward 6+1, Simon Gustafsson 5+2, Lukas Dryml 5, Joonas Kylmakorpi 5, Taylor Poole 2+1.
