DEPLETED Wolves were well beaten 54-39 in their Knockout Cup clash with Poole at Monmore on Monday.
And the club are anxiously awaiting news on Tai Woffinden's scaphoid injury later this week before making a decision on a new signing.
Poole, inspired by the Darcy Ward / Chris Holder combination, were by far the better side and Parrys International Wolves boss Peter Adams wasn't surprised.
He said: "The scoreline is disappointing, but a home defeat was half expected before the meeting to be honest.
"We were without Tai Woffinden and had no option but to use the rider replacement facility against the strongest team in the country.
"I thought Robert Miskowiak made a solid debut and he can only get better. I put him in the last heat to give him valuable track time as we need him on form at home to Peterborough next Monday.
"Tai is seeing a specialist this week and then we can make a decision on the team and the new averages."
Wolverhampton 39: Ricky Wells 12+2, Freddie Lindgren 10, Ty Proctor 7+2, Robert Miskowiak 6+1, Pontus Aspgren 3, Lukasz Sowka 1, Tai Woffinden Rider Replacement.
Poole 54: Darcy Ward 15, Chris Holder 14+1, Adrian Miedzinski 7+2, Dennis Andersson 6, Ludvig Lindgren 5+1, Kyle Howarth 4+1, Ricky Kling 3.
