WOLVERHAMPTON were beaten at the Norfolk Arena on Wednesday night – with their current injury problems playing a key part in the outcome.

Four members of the Parrys International Wolves team – including both reserves Ricky Wells and Lukasz Sowka – won a race, but they were unable to put together consistent form throughout the meeting.

Wolves held the Stars to a two-point lead after Heat 4 before conceding 5-1s in the next two races, and looked out of contention having dropped 38-22 down after Heat 10.

But Wells and Freddie Lindgren gave them hope of salvaging a point with an 8-1 over home captain Mads Korneliussen in Heat 11, Lindgren having gone for double-points.

The Stars, however, finished strongly with three 5-1s and a 4-2, Wolves’ night being summed up when Lindgren suffered mechanical problems on the last lap of Heat 15 and dropped from second to last.

KING’S LYNN 58: Niels Kristian Iversen 13, Maciej Janowski 11+2, Kevin Wolbert 10+2, Mads Korneliussen 9, Daniel Nermark 8+1, Joe Screen 6+3, Mateusz Szczepaniak 1+1

WOLVERHAMPTON 35: Freddie Lindgren 11+1, Ricky Wells 8+1, Ty Proctor 7+1, Robert Miskowiak 5, Lukasz Sowka 3, Pontus Aspgren 1, Tai Woffinden r/r.
