WOLVERHAMPTON pulled off an emphatic 59-33 win over Belle Vue to get their home Elite League season off to the perfect start.
And despite the scoreline there was some entertaining racing for the fans who braved freezing temperatures to enjoy the action.
Tai Woffinden continued his brilliant start to the season with a 13-point haul for Parrys International Wolves and he was only denied a maximum when beaten by visiting No.1 Matej Zagar in Heat 15.
Skipper Freddie Lindgren notched 12+1 on a productive night for the home side who completed a quick double against the Aces after winning in Manchester on Friday.
But Lindgren had to work hard for his win in Heat 4 when he passed Kauko Nieminen and he was relegated to third place by that man Zagar in Heat 13.
Satisfied Wolves boss Peter Adams said: "We will probably have tougher tests further down the road this season, but we can do no more than win our opening two matches. I'm very pleased with our start to the new season."
WOLVERHAMPTON: Tai Woffinden 13, Freddie Lindgren 12+1, Ludvig Lindgren 9, Ty Proctor 7+4, Jacob Thorssell 7+3, Ricky Wells 7+2, Adam Skornicki 4.
BELLE VUE: Magnus Zetterstrom 10, Matej Zagar 8, Kevin Wolbert 4+1, Craig Cook 4, Artur Mroczka 4, Kauko Nieminen 2, Ales Dryml 1.
