WONDERFUL Wolverhampton stunned Poole by ending their long unbeaten home run on Wednesday.

Parrys International Wolves pulled off a 48-42 win to secure three more league points and announce their arrival as serious play-off contenders.

And stand-in boss Chris Van Straaten, deputising for the unavailable Pete Adams, paid tribute to his riders.

He said: "All the riders played their part. I think Ty Proctor in particular had a very good night, but every rider can point to a race where they did their job.

"It's a result that puts us safely in the top four for the next couple of weeks which is good from a confidence point of view."

Having taken a 4-2 in the opening race of the night, the gutsy visitors fought hard to preserve their lead with Fredrik Lindgren providing the move of the night in heat nine with a third to first blast to lead a 3-3.

A heat ten 5-1 from Darcy Ward and Dawid Stachyra gave Poole the lead for the first time in the meeting "“ but the resilient Wolves hit back through Tai Woffinden and Ty Proctor in the very next race to restore their two point advantage.

With the meeting set to go down to the wire, in-form reserve Ludvig Lindgren and Adam Skornicki combined for an unlikely maximum over Dennis Andersson and Chris Holder in the penultimate race to give Wolves an unassailable six point lead.

With Tai Woffinden and Fredrik Lindgren again spearheading the side with double figure contributions, Ty Proctor and Adam Skornicki followed on from improved performances on Monday to bolster the main body.

Down at reserve Ludvig Lindgren's flying form also continued with paid nine against his former club as Poole suffered their first defeat at Wimborne Road since September 2011.
