PARRYS International Wolves snatched a vital victory in the most dramatic of circumstances as they took a narrow 46-44 win against Swindon at Monmore Green.
Having entered heat 15 two points behind the Elite League Champions, Wolverhampton men Tai Woffinden and Peter Karlsson stormed to the front to ensure the home side edged what was a thrilling encounter.
Despite not enjoying the finest of evenings, GP man Woffinden took the plaudits along with guesting No.1 Karlsson - and the stand-in skipper was delighted with the win.
Said Woffinden: "Me and PK knew what we needed to do and did the job in hand which was great.
"It was a tough night for me personally, but it was a great effort from the team and a really important result."
Although Karlsson and Woffinden were the glory figures, reserve Jacob Thorssell was arguably the match winner for the Monmore men.
The young Swede notched two race wins and scored in every outing on his way to 11+2 to continue his fine run of form.
His reserve partner Ludvig Lindgren made a useful contribution - and with Ricky Wells and Adam Skornicki also posting solid scores Wolves had just enough to edge victory and hold onto their top spot.
Wolverhampton 46: Jacob Thorssell 11+2, Tai Woffinden 10+1, Peter Karlsson 9+1, Adam Skornicki 6+2, Ludvig Lindgren 5, Ricky Wells 5, Ty Proctor R/R
Swindon 44: Peter Kildemand 10, Hans Andersen 10, Nick Morris 9, Troy Batchelor 6+1, Edward Kennett 5+1, Ashley Birks 4, Kyle Howarth 0
