PARRYS International Wolves got their Elite League campaign off to a perfect start as they stormed to a 58-35 victory over local rivals Birmingham at Monmore Green.
After racing into a 20 point lead within just six races Wolverhampton never looked back as they claimed local bragging rights in comprehensive style.
And boss Peter Adams was thrilled to see his new-look side start their season by claiming a confidence-boosting win following a strong all-around team performance.
Said Adams: "I expected it to be much closer to be honest with you but we had far too much for them in the heat-leader and second string departments in the end.
"Everybody did more or less what we expected if not more, and it was a very encouraging performance.
"It comes with a word of warning as we know we'll face much tougher opposition as the season progresses, but we're pleased to get off to a winning start."
World Champion Tai Woffinden went through the card with a faultless display - yet it was Polish hotshot Piotr Pawlicki who stole the show with an exhilarating paid maximum on his Wolves debut.
Another debutant, Joe Jacobs, enjoyed a magnificent evening as he made his top flight bow - ending with a vital 7+1 haul from reserve.
Fellow young Brit Ashley Morris did endure a tough night in the lower order - yet with Jacob Thorssell, Ricky Wells and Ty Proctor all impressing in the main body the hosts cruised to three invaluable Elite League points.
WOLVERHAMPTON 58: Tai Woffinden 15, Piotr Pawlicki 12+3, Ricky Wells 9+1, Jacob Thorssell 8+2, Joe Jacobs 7+1, Ty Proctor 5+1, Ashley Morris 2.
BIRMINGHAM 35: Ben Barker 8, Daniel Nermark 7+1, Adam Skornicki 6, Danny King 5, Paul Starke 4, Simon Lambert 3, Edward Kennett 2.
