PARRYS International Wolves suffered late disappointment as they were forced to settle for a 45-45 draw against Belle Vue at Monmore Green.
In a tense encounter played out in front of the Sky TV cameras, Wolverhampton conceded a last heat 5-1 having led for the entire meeting as the determined Aces snatched an unlikely draw.
And team boss Peter Adams admitted he was frustrated to see victory slip out of their grasp at the death.
Said Adams: "It's the second home meeting in a row we've lost out on a point in the final race, so we are obviously disappointed.
"We wanted to hit them hard early on to get some sort of a lead and we did that, but it was never quite enough and when some of their riders settled down and found the right setups it got a lot more difficult for us.
"Unfortunately we didn't get the win as we would have liked, but I suppose it wasn't a complete surprise as after years of struggling Belle Vue have a very powerful team this season."
American ace Ricky Wells was arguably the pick of the home riders as he fought his way to a double figure score having been involved in some scintillating action.
Fellow second string Jacob Thorssell also enjoyed an excellent evening - recording two race wins in his opening two rides despite a disappointing final outing.
Talented youngster Ashley Morris put in another strong performance to bolster the Wolves' lower order - yet heat-leader trio Tai Woffinden, Piotr Pawlicki and Ty Proctor all endured below par evenings as they accounted for just two wins between them.
Despite kicking off his evening in flying style, World Champion Woffinden faded as the meeting progressed - conceding the decisive 5-1 with Pawlicki who felt the full effects of a nasty fall in his second ride.
Proctor also suffered a night to forget with an awkward fall and retirement highlighting his problems on what was a frustrating evening all around for the Monmore men.
