PARRYS International Wolves survived a major scare before a late surge ensured they edged an important 48-42 win over Lakeside at Monmore Green.

Despite trailing for large parts of the meeting, Wolverhampton came strong in the closing stages to ensure they earned their first win in four.

And with star man Tai Woffinden again enduring a tough night, boss Peter Adams was thrilled to see his side pull through to claim a crucial victory.

He said: "They are a very good team Lakeside and I'm happy with the win.

"I know we need to score all the points at home but when you take everything into consideration including Tai's four point return it's a very good win."

A stunning performance from Polish hotshot Piotr Pawlicki led the Monmore men to victory as he suffered just one defeat against an opposing rider, whilst Ricky Wells provided magnificent back-up with a tremendous showing.

It was Wells and Pawlicki who starred throughout and sealed victory in the final race - although Wells narrowly missed out on a second place behind his partner which would have given his side all three points.

They received strong support from Jacob Thorssell and Ty Proctor with the latter involved in two crucial 5-1s, whilst Woffinden did make a useful contribution despite a difficult night.

Down at reserve Joe Jacobs did endure a night to forget - yet with partner Ashley Morris putting in another solid display Wolves emerged victorious.

WOLVERHAMPTON 48: Piotr Pawlicki 13+1, Ricky Wells 12, Jacob Thorssell 7+1, Ty Proctor 6+1, Ashley Morris 6+1, Tai Woffinden 4+1, Joe Jacobs 0.

LAKESIDE 42: Davey Watt 11, Peter Karlsson 9, Steve Worrall 8+2, Richard Lawson 7+1, Mikkel Bech 5, Ben Morley 2, Lewis Bridger 0.
