WOLVERHAMPTON suffered more frustration with the weather as their trip to Poole on Wednesday was abandoned after just three races.

Parrys International Wolves had made a promising start at Wimborne Road as they led 10-8 with Ashley Morris and Piotr Pawlicki having both taken race wins.

Pawlicki got the better of elder brother Przemyslaw in Heat 3 with Ricky Wells in third place to put Wolves ahead.

But a suspension to racing was then called due to visibility concerns with rain moving in, and hopes that it would clear proved unfounded as conditions deteriorated further.

It was Wolves’ second successive abandoned meeting after just one race was possible in the home match against Leicester on Monday.

Manager Peter Adams said: “We all put a lot of effort into this, as do the supporters who travel, and it’s very disappointing when this happens. There are huge costs involved with abandoned and rained-off meetings and it’s having a serious detrimental effect on a lot of people.

“It’s possible to ride on a wet track but it’s very difficult to ride in the rain because visibility is compromised, and I understand the referee’s decision.”
