PARRYS International Wolves put in a battling performance but could not add to their Elite League points tally as they slipped to a 49-41 defeat against Poole at Wimborne Road.
It was a typically brave effort from Peter Adams' men as they fought to claim at least a consolation point, yet they eventually fell just short against a powerhouse Poole side.
Adams admitted he was frustrated to see his side leave Dorset empty handed after a gutsy showing – but with a tough trip to Lakeside on Friday he has called on them to put the result behind them.
Said Adams: “It’s disappointing obviously to have got so close to a point and to have left with nothing. At the halfway stage I thought we looked good for at least a point, but Poole is a tough place to come and they have a lot of quality in their team.
“I’m suitably encouraged to have got as close as we did, but it is frustrating we couldn’t get a point to reflect our efforts.
“When you look at the scorechart we were only looking for an extra point from somebody to get a point which would have been a feather in our cap, but we’ve just got to put this behind us now and move onto Lakeside on Friday.”
Heat-leader duo Tai Woffinden and Piotr Pawlicki both battled admirably against their big name Pirates counterparts to lead the side well, with the pair accounting for six of Wolves' eight race wins.
Reserve duo Joe Jacobs and Tom Perry both impressed, with an important 5-1 in heat nine the highlight in what was an excellent night for the pair.
Ricky Wells chipped in with a useful six points including a hard-fought win in heat seven as he returned to the No.4 position.
However, Swedish youngster Jacob Thorssell experienced a torrid introduction to the heat-leader role, whilst Ty Proctor also endured a difficult night as Wolves missed out on a point on their travels.
POOLE 49: Darcy Ward 11+1, Josh Grajczonek 10+2, Vaclav Milik 10, Kyle Newman 7+1, Maciej Janowski 6+1, Przemyslaw Pawlicki 5+2, Ben Hopwood 0.
WOLVERHAMPTON 41: Tai Woffinden 11+1, Piotr Pawlicki 9+2, Joe Jacobs 6+1, Tom Perry 6+1, Ricky Wells 6, Jacob Thorssell 2, Ty Proctor 1+1.
