WOLVES 48 BELLE VUE 45

PARRYS International Wolves got back to winning ways as they battled to a 48-45 victory over Belle Vue at Monmore Green.

Having suffered a disappointing defeat against rivals Coventry last week, Wolves were made to work extremely hard by the Aces before eventually emerging victorious in a tight clash.

However, they narrowly missed out on all three points - and boss Peter Adams admitted he was left hugely disappointed by another dropped point on home soil.

He said: "We're obviously very disappointed, as we need to be taking all three points from our home meetings.

"It's a blow to drop more points at home, and the fact Tai (Woffinden) was clearly completely worn out and ill cost us in the end.

"The points he dropped were the difference unfortunately for us, and it's frustrating we couldn't get all three points."

Polish hotshot Piotr Pawlicki returned from injury to lead the side with a spectacular 13 point haul, whilst he was backed up by a determined all-around team performance.

Pawlicki joined forces with Jacob Thorssell to give the hosts a big 5-1 in heat three, before leading a further heat advantage two races later to move them ten ahead.

But a successful tactical ride for Belle Vue No.1 Matej Zagar pulled the visitors back into contention - and when the Slovenian narrowly defeated Pawlicki in heats 13 and 15 the Aces snatched a consolation point,

Whilst Pawlicki was undoubtedly the star performer, Swedish racer Thorssell fought hard to earn a well-deserved heat 15 appearance as he continues to adjust to the tough No.3 position.

Californian ace Ricky Wells also added an excellent 9+1 points from the engine room of the side, whilst Ty Proctor notched a solid 5+1.

Reserves Tom Perry and Joe Jacobs both scored well - claiming a 5-1 in heat nine as they recorded creditable scores.

Yet skipper Tai Woffinden endured a difficult evening suffering from fatigue as Wolves missed out on maximum points.

They will now travel to Belle Vue in the return fixture on Wednesday aiming to repay the compliment and add to their Elite League points tally.

WOLVERHAMPTON 48: Piotr Pawlicki 13, Ricky Wells 9+1, Jacob Thorssell 6+2, Joe Jacobs 6+1, Ty Proctor 5+1, Tom Perry 5+1, Tai Woffinden 4.
