PARRYS International Wolves put in a brave display to earn a well-deserved Elite League point despite slipping to a 48-42 defeat against Poole at Wimborne Road.

Despite travelling to Dorset severely depleted, the Monmore men led for the majority of the meeting as they put in a gutsy performance.

They unfortunately let their slender lead slip in the closing stages to miss out on a superb victory - and team boss Peter Adams admitted he was disappointed they could not hold on.

However, he was also pleased with a battling display to take a point from the reigning Elite League Champions.

Said Adams: "We're disappointed not to have won the meeting to be honest having led pretty much all the way through. After the interval the track changed slightly and they adapted to it better than us which meant they just got the better of us.

"We are disappointed on one hand, but it was also a good, solid performance and we managed to push them all the way to come away with a point."

Guesting No.1 Chris Harris notched a tremendous 12+1 with a determined performance, suffering his only defeats to the unbeaten Maciej Janowski in a scintillating heat 11 and in heat 15.

Aussie ace Rory Schlein also stepped in and provided an excellent showing whilst Lasse Bjerre recorded two classy wins on his way to a vital nine points.

Youngster Joe Jacobs performed well to bolster the lower order whilst Peter Karlsson and Jacob Thorssell added useful contributions despite tough evenings.

However, Tom Perry experienced a night to forget as Wolves fell just short of victory in an entertaining clash.

POOLE 48: Maciej Janowski 14, Kyle Newman 11+2, Lewis Bridger 8+1, Josh Grajczonek 5+1, Bjarne Pedersen 4+1, Vaclav Milik 4. Benji Compton 2+1.

WOLVERHAMPTON 42: Chris Harris 12+1, Lasse Bjerre 9, Rory Schlien 7+2, Joe Jacobs 7+1, Peter Karlsson 4, Jacob Thorssell 3, Tom Perry 0.

Elite League points: Poole 2 Wolverhampton 1
