WOLVES 60 LAKESIDE 33

Monday May 25, 2015
PARRYS International Wolves roared back to winning ways with a convincing 60-33 victory over depleted Lakeside at Monmore Green.

Skipper Peter Karlsson struck a faultless paid maximum whilst Jacob Thorssell and Ricky Wells also suffered just one defeat apiece as they comfortably saw off a Hammers side hit by several injuries and fixture clashes.

It was a professional display from Peter Adams’ side as they comfortably stormed to three Elite League points to end a run of three consecutive defeats.

And although keen not to get carried away given their under strength opponents, team boss Adams was pleased to see his side emerge with a comprehensive win.

He said: “It was a good win – the opposition was weakened, obviously, and so were we to an extent but it was important for us to get back on the winning trail and we did just that.

“I don’t think you can take a lot from this as it was a seriously weakened Lakeside team, so we won’t get ahead of ourselves, but we got the three points and that’s what matters.”

Whilst Karlsson was in imperious form, Thorssell only saw his hopes of a well-deserved maximum ended in heat 15 whilst Swedish compatriot Fredrik Lindgren also bagged double figures as he enjoyed an excellent return from his short injury lay-off.

Ricky Wells continued his impressive form to reel off three composed race wins, whilst Lasse Bjerre stepped in and fought to 6+1 in place of the injured Tobiasz Musielak in the third heat-leader position.

Down at reserve, Josh Bates put in a fine performance to cover for the absence of Lewis Blackbird after the popular No.6 crashed out of Peterborough’s meeting with Plymouth earlier in the day.

Meanwhile, Matt Williamson contributed a solid 3+2 with a determined display as he guested for Blackbird in the lower order.

It was a superb all-around team showing from Wolves as they stormed to 12 race wins and recorded only one last place with a dominant showing.

They will be back in action away at Leicester on Saturday before welcoming Swindon to Monmore Green next Monday (7.30).
