WOLVERHAMPTON favourite Kyle Howarth will be back at Monmore Green for a third successive season in 2018.

The 23-year-old was unveiled as the club's first signing for next year at a well attended Winter Talk-In at The Cleveland Arms Sports Pub.

Wolves Promoter Chris Van Straaten told the large number of fans that including Howarth once again was a no-brainer.

He said: "Kyle has come a long way as a rider over the past couple of seasons and that's great for us because he feels very settled at Wolverhampton.

"That's really pleasing because he's a great lad and he's been turfed out of clubs previously.

"But we can see the potential and quality that already exists but we know there's still plenty more to come from him too."

With a new ruling only allowing one rider over an eight-point average in any one side, supporters were keen to hear the current thoughts of club bosses who will have to release at least one of their Swedish favourites in Freddie Lindgren or Jacob Thorssell.

Said Van Straaten: "It's frustrating for us in particular because we've spent a whole host of years working with both Freddie and Jacob and it's been a great pleasure to have watched them develop and progress under our wing so to speak.

"To be forced into a situation where we have to lose one of them is very disappointing and we have plenty to think about.

"Both ended the 2017 season with very nasty injuries but I'm glad to hear that both are on the mend.

"As we speak it's Jacob who is slightly ahead in terms of recovery but Freddie is also making good progress too.

"All I can say at this moment in time is that myself and Peter (Adams - team manager) have two main permutations that we're working with; one that includes Freddie and one that includes Jacob.

"We need to wait and see what happens but whoever I have to ring to tell them they don't feature in our plans, that will be one of the hardest conversations during my time in the sport."

Van Straaten also confirmed that Parrys International are back on board as sponsors with the club for an 18th consecutive season.
