WOLVERHAMPTON boss Peter Adams believes his side will have a new-found confidence after returning to winning ways at Monmore.

Parrys International Wolves ended a six-match losing streak with a 48-42 success over Swindon on an entertaining night of racing in the West Midlands.

Swedish star Jacob Thorssell rediscovered some of his very best form to top score for the Monmore men while young American Luke Becker was another standout performer on an
improved night for the side.

Said Adams: "The team looked a lot better as a whole tonight.
"The signing of Ryan Douglas seems to have stiffened us up a bit and he settled in very nicely.
"Jacob and Luke were back on song and I thought Nick Morris also battled quite hard.
"It was disappointing that they went home with a consolation league point from the meeting, but that was counteracted by the fact that we actually won a meeting for the first time in a while.
"We've only ridden a third of our fixtures whereas a lot of the other teams have ridden half of theirs.
"So we've got matches in hand, now we have to build on this result and if we can win two or three matches in a row then I think this team still has what it takes to take off."

Wolves' night got off to the worst possible start when skipper Rory Schlein and debutant Douglas were outgated by Swindon's duo of David Bellego and Jason Doyle as the visitors registered a maximum.

But Becker and Thorssell both opened their accounts with two race wins apiece in four successive heat advantages for the hosts to move six in front.

Four of the next five races were shared but Becker again kept his opponents at bay as he settled in behind Douglas who bagged his first race win in Wolverhampton colours as they opened up a ten-point lead.

Swindon gave the Wolves plenty to think about though as they struck a hat-trick of 4-2s to move back to within four "“ and there was a temporary scare for Schlein when he tangled with Doyle in Heat 13.

But he dusted himself down to earn a third place in a last heat decider as Thorssell made a quick start from the inside to get the better of Doyle.

They now head to Peterborough this Thursday (July 11, 7.30) as they go in search of their first away triumph of the year.
