SUPER SWEDE CLAIMS NATIONAL CROWN

WOLVERHAMPTON'S Jacob Thorrsell has raced himself into the Scandinavian Grand Prix next month "“ by winning his national title.

Thorrsell got the better of Rospiggarna hero Andreas Jonsson on home shale in the Swedish final "“ Kim Nilsson was third and Linus Sundstrom at the back.

It means he will now race at Malilla in the SGP on Saturday August 17 "“ and ironically that's his home track in the Swedish League.

He's next at Monmore Green with the Parrys International Wolves on Monday August 5 when they face Belle Vue in a key Premiership meeting.

Wolverhampton promoter Chris Van Straaten said: "As a club we are very proud of Jacob, this is a magnificent achievement and we congratulate him on this result.

"It's been quite a week as he celebrated his birthday and now this. We look forward to seeing him back at Monmore for our next home meeting on August 5.

"We are going to need Jacob on top form throughout August as we set about trying to make up ground in the league table."

Meanwhile Wolverhampton's Rory Schlein is also gunning for national glory when he rides in the British Final in Manchester on Monday.

Schlein, who was born in Australia, now qualifies to race in the event and he has a good track record on the National Speedway Stadium surface.

King's Lynn youngster Robert Lambert defends his title with previous winners Scott Nicholls, Chris Harris, Craig Cook and Danny King also included.
