WOLVERHAMPTON'S return to track action was brought to an abrupt halt "“ thanks to the weather.

After over 500 days without racing at Monmore, fans returned with eager anticipation for the Thank You NHS Trophy event.

Sam Masters and Nick Morris won the two races which were staged but it now means the first meeting at Monmore will be their Premiership clash with Belle Vue next Monday.

A dejected Parrys International Wolves Promoter Chris Van Straaten said: "Despite our best efforts the meeting couldn't go ahead because the conditions were too grippy for us to continue. I am totally heartbroken and distraught.

"We will announce in due course about any potential of rerunning or if refunds are to be given. Once again I can only apologise."
