WOLVERHAMPTON slipped to a 57-35 Elite League defeat at title favourites Poole on Sunday.

Freddie Lindgren was top scorer for the reigning champions with 12 – and it could have been more but for an exclusion in Heat 13 for bringing down Bjarne Pedersen.

Poole were in control from the start but Parrys International Wolves notched a maximum 5-1 from Nicolai Klindt and ex-Pirate Joe Screen at the half-way stage.

That proved to be nothing more than damage limitation as the Dorset club built up a healthy lead and staged a grandstand finish to give the scoreline a more emphatic look.

New signing Artur Mroczka was impressive at reserve for the Pirates with 12+2, Davey Watt also scored 12+2 and Chris Holder 12.

Wolves skipper Tai Woffinden, who scored 6, said: “We have to put this down as a blip and put it right when we face Belle Vue at home on Tuesday.”

POOLE: Davey Watt 12+2, Artur Mroczka 12+2, Chris Holder 12, Leon Madsen 6+2, Bjarne Pedersen 6+2, Jason Doyle 5, Darcy Ward 4+1.

WOLVERHAMPTON: Fredrik Lindgren 12, Joe Screen 6+3, Tai Woffinden 6, Nicolai Klindt 5, Ludvig Lindgren 3, Richard Lawson 3, Ty Proctor 0.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: Wolverhampton have switched from their normal Monday racenight this week to Tuesday with the visit of Belle Vue.
