WOLVERHAMPTON started their home Elite League programme in style with a hard fought 50-43 win over Belle Vue.

Freddie Lindgren was in fine form for the reigning champions with 13 and he had good support from talented young Australian Ty Proctor who notched 9+3.

Wolves legend Peter Karlsson made an impressive return to Monmore with his new club by top scoring for the Aces with 12+1 – including double points for a tactical ride.

Parrys International Wolves made a good start and appeared to have the meeting under control until the Aces struck with a maximum 8-1 in Heat 9.

But Proctor and Lindgren teamed up to bounce back superbly with a 5-1 for Wolves to restore a comfortable lead.

Belle Vue refused to lie down and it took a superb Heat 12 from Chris Kerr and Nicolai Klindt to ease Wolverhampton’s nerves as they passed ex-Wolf William Lawson for a 5-1 to make it 42-33.

Karlsson and Hans Andersen secured a consolation 5-1 in the last but Wolves had done enough to claim all three-points available.

Said Lindgren: “It was a tough meeting, especially when they got that 8-1, but we’re pleased to get all three points and it’s a good way to open our league campaign.”

WOLVERHAMPTON: Freddie Lindgren 13, Ty Proctor 9+3, Joe Screen 7+1, Tai Woffinden 7, Chris Kerr 6+2, Nicolai Klindt 5+2, Ludvig Lindgren 3+1.

BELLE VUE: Peter Karlsson 12+1, Hans Andersen 12, William Lawson 7+2, James Wright 5, Patrick Hougaard 5, Leigh Lanham 2.
