WOLVERHAMPTON just had the edge over Eastbourne in an Elite League Speedway thriller on Monday.

Parrys International Wolves ran out 46-44 winners which handed them two league points – but Eastbourne were rewarded with a consolation point.

Freddie Lindgren was top scorer for the Monmore men with 11 but they were given a real scare on a night of terrific entertainment.

Wolves needed two successive 4-2 wins late on to set up the victory with Ludvig Lindgren and Joe Screen just taking the advantage in a terrific Heat 14.

But the best race was saved until last when impressive Eastbourne youngster Simon Gustafsson secured a win after four breathtaking races – and the resulting 4-2 was enough to hand the Eagles their point.

Wolves skipper Tai Woffinden said: “Eastbourne seemed to be gating better than us and it was a really tough test. We’re disappointed to drop a point but I’m sure it was entertaining for the fans.”

WOLVERHAMPTON: Freddie Lindgren 11, Nicolai Klindt 9+1, Tai Woffinden 9+1, Joe Screen 5+1, Ludvig Lindgren 5, Joe Haines 4+1, Ty Proctor 3.

EASTBOURNE: Ricky Kling 13, Simon Gustafsson 11+1, Edward Kennett 7, Lukas Dryml 6+2, Cameron Woodward 5+1, Chris Schramm 2, Joonas Kylmakorpi 0.
