DOUBLE DELIGHT FOR THORSSELL!

Friday July 24, 2020
WOLVERHAMPTON favourite Jacob Thorssell clinched a second successive Swedish title with victory in Malilla on Thursday.

On the eve of his 27th birthday, Thorssell established a vice-like grip on proceedings dropping just one-point in the qualifying heats to book his place in the final.

Former Wolf Pontus Aspgren joined his fellow Swede in the final with Dackarna teammate Oliver Berntzon and Mathias Thornblom completing the line-up.

Victory provides Thorssell a timely boost as he prepares to kick-start his Swedish Elitserien season on August 11 whilst continuing his Polish second division commitments in Gdansk.

Club legend Freddie Lindgren was unavailable to race due to PGE Ekstraliga regulations surrounding the covid-19 pandemic.

Parrys International Wolves owner Chris Van Straaten said: "It's a tremendous achievement for Jacob to win back-to-back Swedish Championships.

"Everyone at Wolverhampton is so proud of him and we send our sincere congratulations on a job very well done.

"We look forward to welcoming Jacob back to Monmore Green at the first available opportunity to celebrate his success."
